"George, I heard Rita's was listed
for sale and might be closing down. Do you know anything about
it?" Name Withheld.
Reply: All I know is what I was told
by a reliable source and that is that John Timberlake went into the
Flamingo looking for a new job in December 2007 and claimed Rita's
was indeed closing for good after the first of the year.... After
customers approached him about this at Rita's, he denied the rumor.
Now, he is no longer working at Rita's. Whether he got fired, was
forced to find work elsewhere, or ran the place into the ground, only
the owner knows for sure... The old restaurant is indeed listed
for sale with Santa Rosa Realty last time I checked, but Nancy was
keeping this fact on the QT as not to upset any of the regular drunks
that keep the place financially afloat. My thought is this;
everything is for sale, it's just a matter of price. From the
way the place has gone downhill over the years, selling the place
seems like a logical solution to a management problem. The
stripper pole in the karaoke lounge surely does not add value to the
business and a new low point for karaoke and serious singers. In
any event, I wish everyone the best at Rita's while I spend my time
and my money where they treat their customers and their employees
with respect, and that's not at Rita's, unfortunately.

" Hi George!
How have you been doing? I just happen across the
Last Day Saloon website and saw Karaoke with Class link and there
you were! Good for You!! No more Rita's for you! You are much better
than that! I haven't been there to sing in quite a while. Got tired
of sloppy people and bad dj's since you left! I will have to come
by and see you and your girlfriend (I forgot her name sorry!) and
sing a song or two, maybe even three!
Be well! " Name withheld.

"Georgie,
Hey, I had a dinner
thing at Ritas last Friday (didn't do karaoke) it was our anniversary
and we took a group of old friends and the kids. The bill was $230,
which is what I expected, but at 9:00 ish when we asked for 3 more
drinks after dinner, she asked us to move into the bar as a party
of ten was coming in and they needed the table, they totally rushed
us, and the place was pretty empty. I was furious. Appalled is the
word. We were just sitting around visiting over dinner and drinks.
Wonder if I should bother telling the owner." Name

Nowhere, at any restaurant,
is this kind of treatment acceptable or common practice in the business.
You should be appalled. And yes, you should complain verbally to the
owner. What the owner does not know, does surely hurt her, and we
don't want that. Will she do something about it, is the question.
Plus, Rita's refuses to serve dinner past 9pm. So, how was it that
ten more people needed the table for dinner after 9pm ??? To me, it
just sounds like there was no "Manager" on duty supervising
the dining room, as usual, and the food waitress wanted to go home
or wanted to sing karaoke. That's unprofessional at best. Sounds like
this waitress and manager need to be retrained professionally.
I use to be in charge of training and retraining the KJs how to be
professional at Rita's. But not anymore.
So sorry to hear about your bad experience.
